Review of Latest Hollywood Movie, “Alien: Covenant”

We cannot ignore that we are facing a tape with the typical story of a group of humans exploring a completely unknown planet, which is gradually fragmented and whose final destination will be a bloodbath, with creatures coming out of their stomachs and robotic heads Increasingly frightening.
In essence, that is Alien: Covenant: the formula presented over and over again in the various xenomorph films that is far from the glory achieved by Alien: the eighth passenger, but who, however, is greatly benefited by the terrifying presence Of that iconic creature created by HR Giger.
For those of us who did not have a chance to meet him on the big screen in 1979, this is a great opportunity to see the Alien at his best. Here, the creature – in all its forms – is responsible for the most exciting and frightening scenes of the film. Each of its sequences are presented with really impressive visual effects.
It seems that this is how Ridley Scott always wanted to show it: increasingly ruthless, bloodthirsty and terrifying. As moviegoers, we can only appreciate the opportunity to see it that way, causing us the terror of being stalked by a xenomorph.
Although Scott manages to avoid making mistakes from previous films, he continues to fall into some vices of his own universe, which detract credibility from the rest of the film.
Although we are facing a prequel, there are resources that have been used in previous tapes that, for the public of this new delivery, are somewhat incoherent as to go to a totally unknown planet and explore it without any care or even look inside An egg, from which, strange things could jump in your face.
Nothing helps the performance of their protagonists – Billy Crudup and Katherine Waterston – who, in order to interpret two crew members who must take control after the deaths of their superiors, end up giving performances that, at times, reach Despair, that seem to get nowhere and that fail to connect with the audience or make us part of this psychosis that we feel, for example, with Sigourney Weaver in 1979.
It is here that, in a very personal way, it gives a lot of pride to see Demin Bichir within this film and in the role it plays. As in the rest of his filmography, the Mexican gives a role to the height of the cast that accompanies him and the filmmakers with whom he has worked. Michael Fassbender deserves a special mention, who – without giving more details to avoid spoilers – delivers a thrilling role again.
Although Alien: Covenant does not reach the perfection of that first film 79, like Prometheus , provides a number of elements that connect increasingly saga prequel to the genius of Alien: the eighth passenger. It may be too soon to make any judgment what Ridley Scott is up to. This universe of yours still has many answers to give and many strands to unite. After Alien: Covenant, we are sure that this delirious journey of blood and terror is on track.
